Today I am going to introduce you to an interesting English learning platform called Simple English Videos that contains hundreds of high-quality English videos. You can find amazing teaching materials here according to the proficiency level and needs of your students. 😀

What is Simple English Videos?

Simple English Videos is a site by English language teacher and author Vicki Hollett. On this site, you can find hundreds of excellent language learning videos made by professionals, to help you learn English. The videos are categorized by genre. Each video comes with a handy clickable transcript that you can follow along with as you watch. There are also optional teaching resources, including downloadable videos and worksheets that teachers can purchase for some of the language learning videos.

Simple English videos and English Learning 😝

In an EFL classroom, there are so many chances that we could integrate interesting and language-focused materials into the lesson, making our lessons as interesting and motivational as possible. 

This site provides us with a bunch of functional English videos, which are categorized by proficiency levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced).



The purpose of the videos is varied, including teaching grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and even business English. 



Clicking into one of them you will find:

(1)A exhaustive word list (I know what I am going to learn!)



(2)A video transcript (I know what they are going to talk about and I can retrieve info here!)


(3)A video (Wow! Here is the essence!)

You will first see this lovely couple! One from the UK and one from the US, teach us authentic British and American English! Amazing!


The video inside is scientifically designed to have several stages:

A.Telling a story. 

This cute couple is going to have an interesting conversation including target language point first.

Limitations 😕

(1)Do not come as a whole set

Okay... However, materials here do not come as a whole set, which means it might not be considered as systematic input. You might find some topic-related videos here. But it can hardly form a structured picture of knowledge. 

(2)Fatigue

Would students be bored by watching these two people talking over and over again? The characters here are a little bit monotone. Students might feel a sense of fatigue after watching the same people in videos.

Evaluation of Larry Ferlazzo's Blog 💗 Today I looked at Larry Ferlazzo's blog and I found something interesting! 😀 Organisation and Layout   Overall, the layout and organisation of the blog are desirable to some degree. But that is dependent on which page you are looking at.  The cover page (the first page) : The layout is clear. By using some short subtitles, and removing the sidebar, the blog is in good order and more spacious. The pictures are a little bit cluttered but I think it is still acceptable.  Clicking the subtitles (the other pages) : The layout starts to be messy and unclear. There are too many colour blocks and long titles without showing bullet points.
