Hi guys 😉! Nice day! Today the keyword is ‘interaction’, which is an essential element in the English classroom. Without active interaction, the lessons are definitely gonna be less enjoyable. So here, we got H5P in the house. Let’s check it out!

What is H5P?

H5P is an abbreviation for HTML5 Package. Using H5P, we can create richer content in existing publishing platforms, share and modify content in the browser at any time. It empowers everyone to create rich and interactive web experiences (e.g. interactive videos, quizzes and presentations) more efficiently for free.

H5P and English Teaching 💗

In the English classroom, teachers arrange various activities to keep students motivated. Here in H5P, we can design over 30 kinds of interesting activities in one go! These activities are integral parts of the lesson, which enrich input, help to strengthen the new knowledge and increase interaction. For example, through making interactive videos, students can watch the video and learn at the same time. It gives students help to develop knowledge incrementally with the video. Another useful function is the chase, which allows students to group up and to have a competition. Through this activity, students’ awareness of teamwork and participation can be improved.

Example and Tutorials 👯

My example: 

(1) Virtual Trip

Take a virtual trip in Winter. This is to create a virtual context of Winter for students.

(2) Dialog card

This is an interesting dialog card that can show both sides of questions and answers.

(3) Interactive Video

Watching the video and answering some questions in the middle. It can urge students to concentrate on the meanings of the videos.

Evaluation of Larry Ferlazzo's Blog 💗 Today I looked at Larry Ferlazzo's blog and I found something interesting! 😀 Organisation and Layout   Overall, the layout and organisation of the blog are desirable to some degree. But that is dependent on which page you are looking at.  The cover page (the first page) : The layout is clear. By using some short subtitles, and removing the sidebar, the blog is in good order and more spacious. The pictures are a little bit cluttered but I think it is still acceptable.  Clicking the subtitles (the other pages) : The layout starts to be messy and unclear.
